Concrete Time Lapse

Time lapse view from yesterday

195 cubic yards of concrete!

Estimates were around 170-180, but it ended up taking 195 yards of concrete.    The crew started work at 3:30 getting the pump truck setup and things ready.  Concrete started to flow at 4:00 and there were 10 concrete mixing trucks stacked up waiting to dump into the pump truck.

They finished pumping around 1:00 in the afternoon and completed floating and finishing around 10:00 at night.

Building up the foundation

Fill is being hauled in and part of the process is to build up and reinforce the corners for the concrete base.   Bags are filled, placed and compacted, a slow and very manual labor intensive process.

Foundation work has started

Foundation is being formed.   There is about a 4.5' drop in grade so the back of the house will need quite a bit of fill.   Entire slab will be a good 2' above grade at the lowest level.

Power path cleared

This past week clearing on the property continued.    All brush has been removed from the build site and a path has been cleared for power poles to be installed.

Power needs to be run an additional 1400 feet from the existing poles, which will require about 5 new poles to the existing 5 that area already in place.

Much of the brush being removed is being stacked in piles and will remain in place as part of our wildlife management plan for establishing brush cover for birds and game.
